The Institute of Geography is home to various facilities related to research and teaching. Other facilities and services at the institute and at the university support and supplement studying.

As part of their studies at the Institute of Geography, students gain practical experience on excursions and have contact with possible professional fields through non-university internships, in addition to the traditional course content.

In addition to the regular courses in Germany, the Institute of Geography also offers opportunities for students to gain experience abroad as part of their studies. The institute also offers courses tailored to international students.
