DGGM Annual Conference 2026 Field Trips and Workshops

As part of the annual conference of the German Society for Geomorphology, a full-day autumn excursion around Heidelberg and a half-day workshop on geophysical prospecting methods for ECR will be offered on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Heidelberg Panorama

A. Autumn excursion to Heidelberg

The excursion covers the geomorphological development of the lower Neckar region between the crystalline Odenwald and the Upper Rhine Graben. Thematic focal points include the relief and valley history, the integration into the Variscan basement structure, as well as Quaternary cover sediments and loess deposits.

Stops include the moat at Heidelberg Castle, a loess outcrop at Haarlass, and several vantage points overlooking the Neckar Valley and the morphological structure of the Upper Rhine Graben.
