I explore the potential of human machine systems to promote the quality of information. For this purpose remote sensing and other data sources are organized as feature spaces for machine learning. Prior knowledge harvested from citizen observations and OpenStreetMap is injected into such feature spaces to solve classification problems.

I work closely with application experts across academia and industry to promote efficient and solution driven science. Within the H2020 LandSense project I work on quality estimation of citizen observatories and research on osmlanduse.org. I engage in research activities related to quality of land use data and its use for machine learning within the idealVGI project and investigate use of OpenStreetMap for greenhouse gas estimation within the Heidelberg Center for the Environment.
