Dr. Nicole Aeschbach

Dr. Nicole Aeschbach (née Vollweiler) heads the TdLab Geography at the Institute of Geography at Heidelberg University and is a research associate at the Heidelberg School of Education (HSE). The focus of Nicole Aeschbach's work in research, teaching, and communication is on „Geographies of Climate Change" and sustainability.

In research, Nicole Aeschbach and her team at TdLab Geography apply transdisciplinary approaches to questions concerning climate change and sustainability. A special focus is on the collaboration with the GIScience research group, the 3DGeo research group and with colleagues at the Heidelberg Center for the Environment (HCE).

In teaching, Nicole Aeschbach develops and implements innovative research-based teaching-learning settings. In the Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Master of Education Geography programs, she facilitates courses on topics such as climate geography, environmental ethics and education for sustainable development (ESD). Nicole Aeschbach has regularly supervised theses in the above-mentioned subject areas for many years.
