Luz Melina Quinto, M.Sc.
Luz Melina Quinto is from Peru. She has studied Law at San Marcos Major National University, and later has obtained a Title of Second Specialization in Environmental Law and Natural Resources at Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. Then, she has studied the Master of Governance of Risk and Resources in Heidelberg Center for Latin America in Santiago de Chile. She has worked in government entities linked to topics such as: Environment, Health, Agrarian, Tourism. Since February 2016, she has been a PhD student at the Department of Economic and Social Geography under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Johannes Glückler.
Research Project
In her master thesis, Luz Melina Quinto has focused on the analysis of the Governance the Peruvian State has taken in order to strengthen the environmental institutions of Peru and to evaluate the Detailed Studies of Environmental Impact in the context of investment promotions. In her current research, Luz Melina is interested in the mutual interrelation between institutions and regulation. Empirically she focuses on the example of Mining in Peru, and the process of formalization of Artisanal and Small-scale Mining activities.
