Emigration of Highly Qualified Persons from Vorarlberg (Austria)

This research project analyzes the social and regional origins, career paths and regional mobility of many thousands of highly qualified persons (including high school graduates and graduates of higher educational institutions) from Vorarlberg. What were the social classes and the parent/guardian occupations of these highly qualified persons? Which occupations did they pursue? How much do career paths and regional mobility depend upon social class and area of study? What proportion of graduates emigrated to other Austrian states or to other countries? Which career paths led to a job in vorarlberg and which facilitated emigration? What were the most important motives for emigration to other Austrian states or to other countries?
