El foco principal se encuentra en la Información Geográfica Voluntaria (Volunteered Geographic Information, VGI). Se están desarrollando nuevos métodos de análisis espacio-temporal de fuentes de información tales como OpenStreetMap, Social Media y otros proyectos Web 2.0, los cuales van desde Twitter o Flickr, hasta cualquier otro tipo de redes geo-sociales. Muchos proyectos y servicios creados a partir de la evolución de las fuentes de información están demostrando la factibilidad de su uso en diferentes dominios. Through the Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology (HeiGIT gGmbH) at Heidelberg University, we have the opportunity to translate our research work into practical solutions.
