Huiqiao Yuan Werdegang
I am a PhD candidate at the Institute of Geography, University of Innsbruck. I completed my postgraduate studies at The University of Sydney in Media Practice. I am a migration, feminist and digital geographer interested in gender, mobility and transnational caregiving networks. My PhD study focuses on the adaptation, representation and inclusion/exclusion of female Chinese migrants-“Study Mothers” in Singapore. In my research, a multi-level theoretical framework integrating theories of space, feminist geography, migration studies, and digital geographies perspectives. It adopts a qualitative multi-method approach that includes digital ethnography, in- depth interviews, and mobile instant messenger interviews.
Considering my background and professional training, I worked in media organizations and PR companies in China and Australia, responsible for news reporting and new media operations. I was also an academic writing teacher at New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc of China.
