BOOKING OFFICE HOUR APPOINTMENTS

You can book office hour appointments with me at: calendly.com/meet-tabea. A standard appointment lasts 15 minutes. Registration through this system is mandatory! Cancellations of appointments you are unable to attend must also be made through this system.

LOCATION OF THE OFFICE HOURS

DURING THE SEMESTER, I offer appointments either online (heiCONF) or in person (office at Berliner Str., 2nd floor).

DURING SEMESTER BREAKS, I offer appointments exclusively online. In both cases, please register using the link above. In-person appointments take place in my office. Online meetings take place in BigBlueButton (BBB) in the room: heiconf.uni-heidelberg.de/g7uv-yfkj-rwqr-6gh6. I will admit you to the BBB room as soon as the previous attendee has left; please be patient. Make sure to log in using your full name, otherwise you will not be admitted.

DURATION OF APPOINTMENT

A standard time slot is 15 minutes.

FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED IN THESIS SUPERVISION

Requests for thesis supervision (all degree programmes) must be submitted in advance via email! In your message, please state your thematic interests and how they relate to the focus areas of the professorship. Please note that participation in the research colloquium is mandatory, regardless of your degree programme. Once supervision has been confirmed, please book two consecutive slots (30 minutes total) to discuss your topic.

Supervision of theses

I supervise theses in the broader areas of my expertise, including: Digital Geographies, Cultural and Social Geographies, Feminist Geographies, Migration Research, (Critical) Disability Studies, Society–Technology–Environment Relations, Geographies of Health, Geographies of Childhood and Youth, as well as innovative qualitative, digital, mobile, and visual methods.

I particularly welcome students who are interested in writing their thesis as part of our ongoing research projects. If you are interested, please feel free to get in touch. Currently, there are opportunities to contribute to the following projects:

beYOND Project on (Cyber)Violence among School Students:

  • Analysis of an existing dataset with a focus on the role of exclusion experienced by students with migration backgrounds.
  • New data collection on the role of parent group chats in the inclusion and exclusion of students, families, and teachers in school contexts.

ENABLING Spaces Project on the Inclusion of People with Disabilities in Public Spaces:

  • Analysis of an existing dataset on the social construction of and personal identification with disabilities.
  • New data collection on the role of technologies in the everyday spaces and practices of people with disabilities.

Further possible thesis topics:

  • Socio-cultural inclusion and exclusion, especially in relation to gender, migration, disability, ageing, and intersectional research approaches
  • Socio-political polarization and the role of digital technologies
  • (Cyber)violence, (cyber)bullying, and mediated exclusion and discrimination
  • Emerging digital technologies and applications, and their social, political, and cultural impacts; discourses surrounding these technologies
  • Futures narratives and scenarios in the context of technology; alternative futuring approaches, including with marginalized populations
  • Creative methodological approaches, including digital, mobile, and visual methods and methodologies
  • Biosensing, biosensors, biotechnologies, eye-tracking
