Cycling Heidelberg with Guest Professor Jason Henderson

Jason Henderson (San Francisco State University) is currently visiting the AG Nordamerika and sharing his critical perspectives on mobility with students and staff alike. Professor Henderson is an engaging lecturer and an expert on all issues of mobilities, from bicycle to tech mobility, and has been a visiting professor at Heidelberg University before in the winter term 2018/19. This year, he is spending his sabbatical in Paris, France, and included a trip to Heidelberg to teach a block seminar on Street Fights for the Anthropocene: Competing Narratives for Mobility Futures in North America. His class is equally held in the classroom and within the city – because this is where street fights can best be observed!

Part of the seminar was a bicycling tour through Heidelberg. He was eager to learn from the students how they experience the city, what they observe on their daily commutes, what challenges they encounter. The students were equally interested how Professor Henderson’s experiences with Heidelberg’s bike infrastructure from an outside perspectives. We are enjoying his critical perspective a lot! Thank you for sharing your insights with us!
