Léa Bussière Curriculum Vitae

Léa Bussière is a guest researcher in the group of Hydrology and Climatology. Her area of research is the hydrology of cold environments. After graduating with an engineering diploma (equivalent to a Master degree) in earth and water resources in Bordeaux-INP (Bordeaux, France), she completed a Ph.D. in international cotutelle between the Bordeaux Montaigne university (Bordeaux, France) and the Laval university (Québec, QC, Canada). Her Ph.D. thesis focused on the characterization of permafrost thaw features and their role in the transport of heat and water to the ground, by means of geophysical method and numerical modeling.  In October 2023, she has started a collaboration with the Hydrology and Climatology group of the Heidelberg University to study the impact of climate change on the water cycle in Northern Siberia by means of satellite-based remote sensing and hydrological modeling. She is the designer and co-organizer of the international conference “Overcoming uncertainties in cold-regions hydrology” (Heidelberg, 29 Sept.- 1 Oct., 2025), funded by the WIN-Konferenzen grant of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
