About Me:
I am a PhD candidate with a background in urban planning and human geography. My previous research has focused on urban informality and its spatial transformations, ranging from the formalisation of street-vending zones to the emergence of platform-mediated informal markets in Chinese cities. My current PhD research builds on these interests by examining the entanglements between digital platforms and urban informality in Guangzhou’s urban villages. Through this work, I aim to rethink how urban informality is conceptualised in the digital age, while bringing empirical insights from Chinese cities into broader debates in digital geography and contributing a Global South perspective to comparative urban research.
