Economic and Social Geography
In the Economic and Social Geography Research Group (Prof. Dr. Susann Schäfer), we examine economic and social actors, structures and dynamics from a spatial perspective.
We conduct research in the following three areas in particular:
- 1. Entrepreneurs, start-ups and entrepreneurial ecosystems
- 2. Climate change impacts for and adaptation practices by individuals and municipalities
- 3. Digitalization and education in schools and universities
In our research projects, we aims to analyze current economic and societal phenomena theoretically and empirically, mostly qualitatively or in combined quantitative-qualitative research designs, and seek to formulate impulses for policy action.
