Economic and Social Geography

In the Economic and Social Geography Research Group (Prof. Dr. Susann Schäfer), we examine economic and social actors, structures and dynamics from a spatial perspective.

We conduct research in the following three areas in particular:

  1. 1. Entrepreneurs, start-ups and entrepreneurial ecosystems
  2. 2. Climate change impacts for and adaptation practices by individuals and municipalities
  3. 3. Digitalization and education in schools and universities

In our research projects, we aims to analyze current economic and societal phenomena theoretically and empirically, mostly qualitatively or in combined quantitative-qualitative research designs, and seek to formulate impulses for policy action.
