Cities are fascinating. They are our home, our right to participate, our network, but also our vision. At the same time, they are contested entities, as they produce exclusion, displacement and environmental degradation. In my research, I deal with current processes of urban development caused by globalization, digitalization, culturalization and staging. Important research dimensions I apply are the concepts of trust, sustainability, home and the neighborhood. By combining theoretical approaches to urban research from various disciplines with empirical social science research, my aim is to actively shape the city of tomorrow. One focus is on North American and European cities, which I particularly enjoy discussing and developing together with students from a global perspective.
