About the project

The COVID-19 pandemic caught societies and educational institutions worldwide unprepared in 2020. This mixed methods study was initiated to bring together expertise from psychology and geography to combine existing, ongoing, and pending data collection with students on distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among others it combined the conduction and analysis of a quantitative survey with a qualitative multi-method and longitudinal research study that accompanied students throughout several data collection phases in 2020 and 2021. The interdisciplinary research teams aimed at gaining a comprehensive insight into the complexity of perceptions, evaluations, practices, experiences, and contexts of distance learning for students during the pandemic. Recommendations for the University of Innsbruck and its lecturers were derived from the results.
